TRANSCRIPT for: Subject TERR-4-E7K
Subject TERR-4-E7K, legal name Ezekiel Klyne, has shown great progress during his time in the Terra Project, scoring in the top 2% of the evaluation scale per written test, and ranking FIRST in combat drills as of the last two weeks, even above the lab's first engineered child and leading trainee of the Ethereal Project, Subject ETHE-1-1. For Terra-4's time at the Proving Grounds compound, all that can be said about shortcomings is his uncanny charismatic aura. Wherever 4's mind wandered, there was always an obstructing companionship which helped him achieve his strange, misguided goals.
Upon my personal recommendation, Doctor Spettiker of the Ethereal Project released Subject ETHE-6-6 into the Proving Grounds arena, where 4 met the child with warmness. Ethereal-6 had a long history of psychotic behavior, thus attacking 4. 4 attempted to avoid conflict, but Ethereal-6's relentless onslaught tested the bounds of 4's temper. Both myself and Doctor Spettiker mused on who would emerge victorious. It was, admittedly, a win-win situation for me. Either 4 would be destroyed, along with any remaining bonds of friendship between the subjects, or his otherworldly temper would see him alienated from the others. The duel lasted longer than we had anticipated, but ended spectacularly!
4 had Ethereal-6 pinned down, and the latter's face was bashed repeatedly, at first with fists. When Ethereal-6 begged 4 to stop and apologized repeatedly, it only seemed to fuel 4's anger. Fists turned into 4's training helmet. It is a strange experience to witness a child end the life of another. But these children will become soldiers, and I am certain Ethereal-6 will not be the last of 4's triumphs. My theory was correct, and thus 4 can focus on things other than companionship now.
If someone were to see what I do for a living, I'm certain my morality would be judged contemptuously. Does this bother me? Ask my enormous paycheck.
Expect my next report on 4's progress soon.

Nervous Movement
You're a dime a dozen in a sea of billions.
Individuality has no significance in numbers so vast.
And while this fact may make looking forward hard
we can't keep living in the past.
You're a nervous movement in a freeze frame scene.
Steady hands won't help hold up such a fragile act.
And while you take your time keeping character
you fake what you can't take back.
With nothing more than a thought we form our actions
and this is where we extinguish the lie they tried to invent.
The lie that we painted our lives without passion
well conclusions are useless with no attempt to commence.
You're a song I can't name stuck in my head.

Blood Brothers
Brookie always holds my hand when we cross the street. She's never given a reason for it, she just does it. It's become this unspoken rule with us that whenever we cross the street together, she slips her hand in mine and I lace my fingers through hers and we walk hand-in-hand until we reach the other side and she drops her hand and we both wipe our palms on our jeans. Brookie's a little scared of crossing the street. Her poppa died in a car crash when we were six. He was a pedestrian. She's never gotten over it.
Brookie is my best friend going on sixteen years now, which is pretty impressive considering we're both sixteen. We don't h

Blood From a Far Off Place
Quiver full of bullet tipped arrows.
The bow of aluminum my dad made in high school.
I step into the sunlight on the south side of the house.
I'm 12.
I don't know why I pull the bowstring
back to my eye, aim upward, and loose.
Straight above my head.
And the voice said,
"You are a most common creature,
though of a peculiar people."
The Sun glints off the arrow's shaft.
I shade my eyes and wonder how long
before the arrow hits me. How long before
I step aside. How long to decipher a riddle
from a lipless voice.
Now I'm 16.
These days, I fire two arrows above my head.
Wondering. Hoping.
Bring back that voice.
One arrow. Two seconds la

This was a story idea that basically fell through. But I always love writing from the POV of a report. Makes me feel confidential and whatnot.
